Creating the Perfect Luxury Get Well Soon Gift
Welcome to ‘The Gift of Wellness’ a series of blog posts about how incorporating wellness into your gifts can make your gifts not only luxurious and special, but beneficial for the recipient. Each week, we’ll be looking at a different wellness & self-care theme and how we went about curating our Signature Range of Self Care gift boxes.
Today, I want to talk about our Restore Collection of Luxury Ethical Gift Boxes and give you some ideas for ‘Get Well Soon’ gifts which are not only uplifting but truly healing for mind, body and spirit.
We all go through difficult times in life...
Life is never perfect. There are always good times and bad, and it’s in the bad times that we rely on the support of our friends and family to help us through.
I personally went through an extremely challenging time in my life in my early 20s, when I was diagnosed with a type of cancer, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I was diagnosed 2 weeks before I was meant to move to London and start a graduate scheme with a big accountancy firm.
As you can imagine, my life was turned upside down overnight. I was told that I’d need to have chemotherapy for at least 6 months, that I’d obviously have to postpone my graduate scheme for a year, and that my hair was going to fall out.
I still remember the day I got diagnosed. I remember phoning up the company where I was going to work, and telling them I’d have to delay my start date by a whole year. I remember phoning up my best friends and telling them I wouldn’t be moving in with them after all. And I remember thinking, how am I going to get through this year?
I’m not going to sugar coat it; it was an extremely tough year. But I was lucky in so many ways; I had the support of my family and friends, the cancer was curable, and I didn’t have anything else to worry about (financial responsibilities, dependents, work, money). I just had to focus on my health.
So I know what it’s like to be very unwell, and I also know how much of an uplift it can be when a loved one sends you a thoughtful gesture to say “we’re here for you”.
Small, uplifting gestures can really help us through...
My experience is what inspired me to create our Restore range of Curated Gift Boxes. I know that often, we tend to send things like flowers or chocolates as a ‘Get Well Soon’ gift. Although these kinds of gifts are nice, and will put a smile on someone’s face, their impact is limited.
I wanted to create a range of gifts which not only put a smile on someone’s face, but are tailored towards healing and restoration; for mind, body and spirit. A gift which can truly have a positive impact for someone going through or recovering from a tough time, whether it’s physical or mental, but still feels luxurious and special.
Our Restore Gift Boxes are a curation of luxurious, healing gifts...
So this is what I kept in mind when curating the products for our Restore Gift Boxes; restorative products for mind, body and spirit.
The first product in our Restore Deluxe Luxury Ethical Gift Box is the amazing Calendula Balm, by Odylique.
Often during times of illness, we can get dehydrated and our skin can get very dry. This award-winning, 100% organic multi-tasking balm can be applied anywhere to restore cracked, dry or chapped skin or lips. It contains Calendula extract which is perfect for repairing and soothing, chamomile to calm and raw shea and coconut to hydrate.
I also wanted to include some herbal tea which can be really restorative and healing. Pukka’s Elderberry & Echinacea Tea, is made with 100% organically grown ingredients, and is caffeine free. Echinacea has so many health benefits; it helps our immune system; it lowers blood pressure and helps to control blood sugar. Elderberry is also packed with antioxidants and vitamins, which makes this the perfect healing tea.
The simple act of taking a bath can help to ease the mind and heal the body. Adding bath salts is even better; these amazing Ascent Bath Salts from Verdant Alchemy are rich in 84 precious minerals. The pink Himalayan salts centre the body and soul, while the bright and invigorating composition of rose geranium, ho leaf and lavender help to uplift mind, body and spirit.
Next is the wonderful Restore Candle by Wildheart Organics. I always find candles bring peace and tranquility, and this one has the restorative scents of lime, sweet basil and clementine, helping to reset thoughts with a new sense of harmony and positivity. A lot of candles are made with artificial fragrances which can release toxic chemicals, but this candle is made with 100% natural, pure essential oils.
To help with spiritual healing, I wanted to include a healing crystal. I know not everyone has used crystals before; I only recently started myself and have found it really helpful. Many believe that crystals harness the energy of the sun, the moon and the oceans, connecting us to the Earth as we come into contact with them.
Clear Quartz is said to be one of the most powerful crystals for healing. The idea is you hold your crystal in your hands, close your eyes, and set an intention in the crystal. Then keep the crystal close to you, to heighten your energy and achieve your intention. If you’d like to learn more about harnessing crystal energy, I found this guide really helpful.
The Little Touches
Getting into the outdoors and physically planting something can also be very healing for the mind.
All of our gift boxes come with a personalised, hand-written note on seed paper, which will bloom into beautiful red poppies when planted, symbolising remembrance; it creates an everlasting element to the gift so the recipient can remember you by
Give a gift that really helps...
